Different women’s fascinating and inspiring stories are woven into the Tel Aviv – Jaffa tapestry. Join us on a journey following women who are fighters, dreamers, brave, loving and tender, who helped shape the image of the city and made it what it is today.
We’ll start the tour at the ever-evolving Flea Market, which had become a bustling and lively hangout spot. We’ll travel the alleys and old stone houses, stop at the first Jewish Caravanserai and hear the story of Sarah Tahon, one of the founders of a Women’s organization for equal rights and the first Hebrew feminist. On Yefet street, we’ll hear the story of Olga Hankin, the childless and brave midwife; we’ll tell the story of Rivka Abulafia and hear how the famous bakery got her last name and move on to Jaffa’s slopes all the way to the sea by the Tel Aviv coastline.
We’ll overlook Neve Tzedek neighborhood and tell about the women who lived there, about hopes and dreams, heart aches and loves against all odds. At Andromeda Hill we’ll tell the tragic story of the beautiful princess (who gave the hill its name), and at Kedumim Square we’ll stop by the Zodiac Fountain and talk about Rachel Yanait Ben-Zvi, one of the first female fighters of the Hagana. Towards the end, we’ll visit a unique workshop, run by women, take in the chic house of the artist Ilana Goor and then complete our tour at Jaffa harbor, in front of the mesmerizing view of the fishing boats and sea.
